When this wine is opened, high-toned aromatics of guava, white peaches, nectarines, apricots, acacia honey, tangerine peel, minerals and spices leap from the glass. There is a glorious muskiness lurking in the wine similar to white truffles or truffle honey that will become more predominant as the wine ages and certainly becomes more pronounced as the wine sits in the glass and begins to open. In the mouth, the wine is sweet and intense but with great lift and lightness due to the beautifully balancing acidity. Long and complete, the 2008 Passito has tremendous cut, complexity and a strong mineral character and length that hint at its longevity. It is still continuing to open up and, although lovely right now, will reward patient cellaring for our children...or our children's children. This vintage produced 168 half bottle cases.
